Tournaments Report NSW U16 Girls Club Championships - University of Wollongong February 8 – 10, 2008 Once again the Cronulla Sutherland Water Polo Club was host to the NSW Club Championships for Under 16 Girls at the University of Wollongong. This year a record 22 teams entered and long days were required to provide sufficient pool time for a complete play off event. Friday started with set up at 12 noon and play finished at 10 pm. Saturday went from 6am for setup with games played from 7 am to 10 pm and Sunday again from 6am to 6.30 pm.Thanks must go to a great Tournament Team that includes staff from the University Recreation & Aquatic Centre, NSWWPI, participating Clubs and especially our own members. In particular; thanks to Janine Kerr, George Birss, Ralph French, Bob Smith, Peter Schmid, Cecelia Falson, Kathy Timilty and Jo Houston (and all of the other parents, coaches, managers and referees who made the effort to assist and offer their help during the weekend).CSWPCI entered three teams and all performed extremely well. Our A’s won Sliver and our B’s beat the eventual 3rd place getters (Breakers As) in the round game 5:4. Our C’s, under Coach Batty, showed immense character and considerable improvement to record great wins and even greater satisfaction. All in all a tremendous tournament with new faces from the parent ranks enjoying the Spirit of Water Polo and offering to assist the Club grow and prosper. The Club needs greater parent involvement and I encourage all to become Associate Members and participate in Club affairs. The camaraderie that we experienced away needs to be brought home and perhaps a group of capable parents would consider organizing some social activities on the Club’s behalf. If so please contact our Secretary Maureen O’Neill.  John Watkins
