Bruce played 100 M1 games before concentrating on a coaching career. He coached M1's for 18 years in the 1970's and 1980's and the L1's for 15 years in the 1990's and 2000's. With Cronulla he has coached Premiership winning teams in M1, M2, MC's, L1, L2, LJ's.

He won National Championships 20 times with NSW Senior Women, U20 Women, U16 Girls and U14 Girls as well as Cronulla M1's and L1's. In recent times as National U20 Women’s coach he has taken 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medal from seven attempts at World Junior Championships.
