Keys to Success

On Saturday the 23rd of May the majority of the Cronulla Waterpolo Club's Men's and Women's National League Squads participated in a Workshop - “To be the best that you can be, personally and professionally” that aimed to assist us in  better exploring and understanding ourselves and our team-mates in order to improve communication and understanding between each other.

Director of “Keys to Success", Mary Brell www.keystosuccess.com.au provided a very generous sponsorship to the Cronulla Sharks Waterpolo Club.  The workshop taught us varying methods of learning and understanding in an attempt to better our patience, training and attitude in our water-polo and broader life experiences. Despite a couple members from each team being absent due to other commitments, the day was a great success, with all participants seeming to come away with something of value.

This workshop was a much needed experience for both the men and women's teams.  It is now up to us to capitalise on our leanings and utilise the strengths of our team- mates, coaches, managers and supporters.

The General and his Army

After a fantastic season, the U14B's, Mako Sharks didn't disappoint on Wednesday night at Sydney University against Parramatta.  They won 14-3.  A fantastic result.  The team was coached by Daniel Mackenzie (The General, pictured in the middle at the back) and managed by Mark Churi & Murray Turner. There is no doubt we will see plenty more from the General's Army in the future. Well done boys.

Metro and State Champions

On the 27th 28th and 29th of March four Cronulla Sharks Teams played in the NSW U16 Girls Club Championships at Wollongong. The ‘Cronulla A’ team became the State Champions after defeating Drummoyne 9-6 in the final. Leading up to the final the Cronulla team scored 98 goals whilst only conceding 3. Player of the final was Sharks goal keeper Michaela Davies and player of the Championships was Sharks driver, Maddison Schmid. The Sharks also recently won the Metropolitan Championship going through the whole season undefeated.

The U16 Girls now join the Sharks U14 Boys who also completed the double after winning the State Club Championship in January and winning the Metropolitan Championship last Wednesday after defeating Sydney Northern Beaches 7-2 in the Grand Final.

U14 Boys State Champions - Cronulla A

Congratulations to the Cronulla A Under 14 Boys Water Polo team who were crowned NSW State Champions at the recent State Championships.  The boys played a total of 8 games and remained undefeated.  The Grand Final against a very strong Newcastle side went into extra time after being 9 all at full time. The Sharks held their nerve and ran out winners 11-10, in what was an absolute ripper of a game.
